Mobb Deep

They started out as just another New York-based hardcore rap duo (the 2 members are Havoc and Prodidgy) in the 90's. Their first album, Juveline Hell, was released when they were both 18, and had moderate success. Their 2 most successful songs on the album are Peer Pressure and Hit it from the Back. When they turned 19, they released their 2nd, and most successful, album, The Infamous. It is considered a Rap classic and has a very hardcore, grimy vibe to it. The beat on every song set the mood, and even though it's very simple, it is one of the most important components of their songs. Their 3rd album, Hell on Earth, was good also, but never reached the level of The Infamous. The song Drop a Gem on 'em is a diss to Tupac, and got considerable success. But the song is thought to be proof that Mobb Deep was involved in the murder of Tupac. In my opinion, the rest of their albums are below average. But they were successful. They're scheduled to release another album in the next year.
